Simon Sinek and Some Connective Tissue

There were so many things about Simon Sinek’s April Creative Mornings talk that resonated with me that I will need to go back and watch it a couple more times before gathering all of the connective threads. But he asks a question here that I think might be relevant to those of us preparing to head back to school in a couple of weeks. In particular, those of us who are heading back to a system that is immersed in political conflict and unrest may find Sinek’s views on the role of management and leadership quite interesting. But there’s also stuff here on vulnerability and risk and relationships that is relevant to our conversations about the purpose of school as one of the social institutions that can contribute to the nurturing of self-confidence—important, Sinek argues, in the willingness to do good for others.

So, here’s the video. I look forward to exploring it further over the next couple of days and, with you, draw out some of the threads that might be particularly relevant and helpful to our work in schools and education.
